UNIQUELY UNI – USHER IN THE YEAR OF THE ROOSTER WITH TORIKIN’S UNI HOTPOT

12 December 2016 – In line with its 2nd Anniversary in Singapore and to celebrate

Chinese New Year 2017, Torikin is introducing The Uni Hotpot. With generous portions of uni (sea urchin) flown in from Japan, Torikin’s Uni Hotpot is the first of its kind to be introduced here.

Rich Uni essence is mixed into Bonito stock to form a sweet, umami-filled pot of goodness, into which bountiful seafood like prawns, scallops, salmon and tuna are dipped, Shabu-style. End the meal with rice mixed into what is left of the rich stock to form a comforting bowl of porridge. With its bright orange and red colours, and seafood such as fish and prawns, this dish is the ideal prosperity pot to indulge in over Chinese New Year.

Torikin is part of a chain of restaurants by the Ishida Kikaku Group, originating from

Fukuoka in Kyushu, Japan. It is the first overseas venture by the Group and embodies its founder, Mr Kyota Ishida’s (known affably as Mr K) philosophy of allowing all customers to discover the authentic taste of Kyushu, without compromising on quality. Last year, Mr K opened Torikin Teppan Bar Q in Robertson Quay, serving up Mediterranean inspired teppanyaki and tapas dishes.

As a casual dining space, Torikin’s outlet in Singapore was established in November

2014 and has been serving up collagen-enriched chicken hotpot, known as Mizutaki, a Hakata specialty, to both locals as well as Japanese expatriates.

Well-travelled owner and chef, Mr K flies frequently between his hometown in

Hakata, Kyushu and Singapore, to personally ensure that standards are adhered to in his Singapore restaurants. While being a stalwart when it comes to promoting the tastes of Hakata in all his dining ventures, having been in the food industry since he was sixteen, Mr K is also passionate about bringing a sense of excitement and discovery to customers through food culture.

The Uni Hotpot is thus a result of introducing traditional flavours of Japan and adapting them to local Singapore tastes, in time for Chinese New Year feasting.

Orders are limited per day so make your reservations soon to celebrate with family and friends.

The Uni Hotpot is available from 13 December 2016 onwards at $86.90 per pax (minimum 2 pax). For the Chinese New Year 2017 period, Torikin is open daily for dinner and lunch only on weekends.
